Procion Dying

Today Judy has brought all her equipment for us to do some procion dying of threads

Equipment all laid out

only natural materials will take the dye successfully they need to be soaked in soda ash first as this will fix the dye

Judy showing some finished samples

Threads at various stages

Lovely messy morning with hopefully some great results
Thank you Judy, this wouldn't be possible without all your preparation.

Deep Button Stool Masterclass

This Thursday we had a masterclass given by Majella
She gave us valuable hints and tips on how to deep button and pleat a footstool.
Majella, thank you it was a very professional and enjoyable demonstration I think we all learned a lot.

Tools of the trade

well finished legs and base for the foam

cutting the foam using a sharpened piece of copper piping

Placing the fabric into the holes to make the pleats
Lovely diamond pleats

Hard work on the hands using the staplegun

Nearly there

perfect finish

Here's one I did earlier.buttoned leather chair seat.
